Boom Bip – Automation

Tonight I found my new love. It’s “Automation” from new Boom Bip album Zig Zaj. I hope he does not beat me if I’m going to show the track. Simply awesome sci-fi synths (that resemble Orbital) with air strings. I want to fly away from here in the spring.
Genius in it’s simplicity.
The whole album is not such great (Alex Kapranos? You must be kidding!) but I think it’s only due to lack of proper mood. The drums sound, the guitars on the spot, nice vocals… but somehow not satisfying.

Rudi Zygadlo – Achtung!

Whad do you know about glitch-hop? Yes, I think that you know everything about it. But what do you know about glitch-folk? Hmmm? It’s complicated, yeah? New Happy-Birthday-EP from Rudi Zygadlo give us some answers about new kind of folk. Some glitchy answers at all.
I love “Variously Made Men”, ‘cos it’s remind me about gypsy riot, which had previously arranged by Larrikin Love. Do you remember Larrikin Love? Doesn’t matter!
If “Catharine” is a typical Zygadlo (but little bit slowly and sensible) with soulful horns, then “The Deaf School” is a synthetic dubstep – bass with calories. Dance work, I was very surprised.

Also, I fell in love with new remix of Crystal Fighters. I love their track Plage and glad to see work from Rudi on it. Sunny Paris and mild coffee aroma with ocean breeze. My summer continues.
Plaid – Scintilli

Plaid’s new album brought me back to the mid-90s when I was finishing school. Then I was a wild girl who disappeared in the night on the roof, painting the starry sky, listening to Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada and did not think about all these problems with “the boys”. Damn, and I was happy. This music makes me feel more attractive.
Most happy fact that the musicians of the old school did not have rushed the wolves on the new styles of music (dubstep, of course), so the music is filled with that same magic, which is fascinated by Plaid. Yes, we have some bass-experiments in Vex’d-like “Eye Robot” and “putthereanydubstepname”-like “Sömnl”
Album has a right name “I am many sparks”, but for me and my friends is a totally right name: “I am drink a lot”. A little bit vertigo, a little bit childish behavior.
Touching the forgotten melodies hidden under a layer of water, right in the middle of the ocean, rise from the bottom. Boil the blood, you feel that you begin to breathe, and seemed to be lived, no one bothered, but it is now beginning to “live” for real.
